Interview with Dan aka Slowman
Greetings all. I have been producing the TriDoc Podcast for a couple of years now and recently had the opportunity...nay, honor, to interview Slowtwitch's very own Slowman, Dan Empfield for my latest episode. It will come as no surprise to anyone who has any inkling of who Dan is that he was incredibly gracious and humble in a conversation that delved into just a few of the ways that he has had a profound impact on our sport.

Dan suggested that I post here to let you all know of the interview's existence so you could find it if you wanted. Here is the link: (it may also be found on all the usual podcast platforms-Apple, Spotify, Google, etc..)

Cheers.

p.s.: If anyone ever has medical/health related questions that they would like addressed on the podcast, please feel free to DM me.

Great podcast, thanks.

Dan is a character, he's got lots of great tri stories. And he has the rare insight to recognize that business success is a perfect blend of intuition, smarts, and timing. Just like described in the perceptive business book, "Lucky or Smart."

Thanks for posting.

I have not had the chance to listen to it yet, but I will.

When it comes to business sense, that ole boy had it nailed in the years that Abba was still around. The "wetsuit in the dryer" story is great evidence of that!

The podcast is a great format for Dan. He's naturally conversational, and always seems to find just the right story for the moment at hand and the audience tuning in. Of course, that also means you asked him some great questions!

Fantastic interview-I loved it!

I think triathletes have many shared qualities of successful businessmen(people). Tenacity of spirit with a strong work ethic sets the bar. There is power when there is passionate pursuit of a goal. The serendipity of 'good timing' helps a lot, but one needs the awareness that it is 'the right time'. The 'obvious' is rarely obvious to all.

(And most 20 year olds are a 'mess'-ie immature.)

Super great analagy regarding the early internet and looking at the TV without power. ...LOL...

Thanks for this interview and thanks to Dan for ST!!

Nice interview. Vintage Slowman!

The diabolical run course in St. George you speak of was designed by Paul Huddle and Roch Frey. It’s actually one of the very true run courses. It tests your patience, your strength and your ability to run down hill. It’s a beautiful run course that you will want to tackle a second time. It also matches that bike course as well. It would be a shame to have that bike course and a flat run.

Thanks to everyone for the kind reviews. I hope others have had a listen as well because honestly, Dan is a super cool dude and really gave a great interview.

The comment about the run course is fair. I'm just going to die on it. That is all. :-)
