Ingrown nail->crps->amputation->competing in Paraolympics 2020

Not sure if this has been posted before, but that's one strange story

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-5624943/Woman-21-paid-5-000-leg-amputated-said-best-decision-life.html

tldr - a youth circuit karate champ in England gets an ingrown toenail removed, which leads to complications including sepsis in her foot. She loses the lower leg (willingly) to get out of the wheelchair, goes on to become a parathriathlete, and is set to compete for a spot in the ParaOlympics 2020.

Next races on the schedule: none at the moment

I read about her story via another forum. Very unusual for sure!

One of my least favorite diagnoses (CRPS) :-(

I'm very confused as to what you mean by 'another forum'? Must be a typo? I don't think I've ever seen those two words used together.

Good for her, but it is not an unusual procedure. Amputating a leg bellow the knee makes one much more functional then, say, amputating part of the foot.
