Pretty interesting to hear his answer. I had thought he would win this weekend and retire. Then go on a 70.3 world tour like Crowie. Looks like we will see him back on the Island.

Jan also said he would like for patrick to not be more than 2 mins ahead of him off the bike. WOW!

Begging PL to over bike. Bike going to be fascinating on Saturday. Would love the two of them to run together for the second half of run. I do think Lange will outrun him though in the end.

Because Talbot expected Jan to say he needs an x min lead on Lange to win, given how well Lange runs.

Jan basically said he’s so confident he’ll outrun Lange, he feels he can close down up to a 2’ gap (on the arguably the best Kona runner we’ve ever seen).

Gamesmanship, sure, but he’s telling the field he’s ready to throw down.

Not sure why Talbot would expect such an answer, though. What is Jan’s overall record against Lange? I know Lange beat him in Kona in 2018 and Frodo beat Lange earlier this year and outran him by nearly 20’.

I would think that Jan will be at least two minutes ahead of Patrick off the bike... if not more.

I wouldn't put any stock in 2017 either, considering he finished way down the field with a back injury.

He also beat him in the European Championship in Frankfurt in 2018, 2019.
So basically Lange beat Frodo only in WC 2017 when Frodo was forced to walk.

Yeah this one is the race that counts. Both healthy and ready to roll. Heck the field this year is likely the deepest field in Kona ever. Will be really fun to watch.

well, I don't think we just throw 2017 out because Jan walked. That happens all the time in IM when the course humbles you. I'm just saying that notwithstanding his back-to-back championships, I don't see Lange as a favorite or someone that Frodo should be bowing to. And, obviously, neither does Jan.

I wrote Lange beat Frodo in 2017 when he was forced to walk.
Not throwing it out at all. Lange beat him.
But that was the only Championship race Lange won against Frodeno
