IRONWAR: complete tape?
I was listening to the IRONWAR recap on Lance Armstrong's Podcast with Dave and Mark. Pretty good listen even if you guys hate Lance.

Anyway...it made me wonder...does NBC have a full tape of the boys unedited racing side by side all day long? I assume someone would have posted somewhere if it exists.

NBC probably trashed something like this long ago...but if not my guess is it's worth quite a few bucks. The run alone would be classic to watch.

1989 Ironman was not on NBC. Ironman was broadcast on ABC Wide World of Sports back then.

It would be cool to see the footage that didn’t make the summary show.

There are some partial videos out there. Also Matt Fitzgerald book Iron War is probably better than any video footage IMO

Are used to have it but I don’t think it’s survived the length of time and my moves.

Here's the ABC broadcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSrY2e6DrqA

I really doubt ABC kept the tapes in any usable shape 30yrs. on.

I'll tell you who I think has the masters, it is ESPN2. I believe they got all the wide world of sports footage from all those old shows, just a matter if it was actually still that show in 89. A long time ago I got the original ironman in Kona from a guy there at ESPN, lot all track of him though. But I have a copy off the master of the 81 Kona, with blank spots for commercials to be inserted.

I did have the original tape, commercials and all, but loaned it out to someone who then lost it. That was a treasure that cannot be replaced, at least not as of yet. OJ Simpson running through airports and Julie Moss doing Mizuno commercials, they are as iconic as the actual race was!!!

I believe you're referencing the original of the final product, but what OP is referencing is the dozens of hours of cutting room floor footage. Probably long gone, kinda like the unaired Apprentice footage.
