As a regional champs I was expecting the same coverage as we had for South Africa

Not the case?

Had my day planned out , always ITU later

I'm about to hop on my trainer and was hoping to watch the first part of the bike. Disappointing that there wont be similar coverage to IMSA.

More than half way through the bike, and Starky is in the lead, pulling Johann Ackermann with him. Matt Hanson is leading a dozen pro men peloton 10 minutes back. Lots of good runners there, and Starky better keep extending that lead.

Pro Men - Thru Bike Split 4 - 58.89 mi

1 2:57:46 Andrew Starykowicz
2 2:57:47 0:02 Johann Ackermann
3 3:07:28 9:43 Matt Hanson
4 3:07:31 9:46 Brent McMahon
5 3:07:32 9:47 Sean Donnelly
6 3:07:35 9:49 Frederik Van Lierde
7 3:07:38 9:52 Will Clarke
8 3:07:39 9:54 Jan Van Berkel
9 3:07:40 9:55 Michael Fox
10 3:07:42 9:57 Paul Matthews
11 3:07:43 9:58 Ruedi Wild
12 3:07:44 9:58 Ivan Tutukin
13 3:07:46 10:01 Matt Russell
14 3:07:48 10:03 Daniil Sapunov
15 3:07:55 10:09 James Capparell
16 3:10:10 12:25 Jesse Vondracek
17 3:10:11 12:25 Mikolaj Luft

I noticed Johann Ackermann came out of the water with Starky and has been hanging onto him since. I had never heard of him so I checked out some of his times. Looks like his best bike split at a full was a 4:12 @ Barcelona last year. His other splits have been 4:30 and slower. Their current pace through 58 would be a 4:01 for 112 miles so it appears he’s playing with fire trying to stick with Starky.

Now it’s looking like the race favorites could be Starky or Matt Hanson. Matt Russell made impressive passes, but don’t think he can run wii Hanson.

Hanson and Mel Hauschildt are both out in front. Looks like a day for the runners.

Edit to add: it looks like Ivan Tutukin is out front with Hanson at mile 20.

Tracker just updated, looks like Hanson has 11 sec lead at 25.5 miles! Sure would be nice if we could watch this!

So he ran like a 2:34!!? Is that course legit? Even if it’s a half mile short, that’s insane.

Did they change the run course? Thought it was the same and legit? Bike definitely looks to be quite short though.

I just watched the karate kid with my son.

The valley regional karate champions had better coverage and more spectators then the NA Ironman Championship. Plus more officials, better rules, and a full distance.

Technique will always last longer then energy production. Improve biomechanics, improve performance.
