IM Record v. im Record

Would WTC recognize a Ironman distance record from another event. Or will it be like boxing and someone will look to unify the ITU/Rev3 and WTC World champion "belts"?

Nope, they absolutely don't recognize any other race....I think I remember them doing some sort of right up on Macca and when they referenced his sub 8 performance in one of the Challenge races they put something like this at the very end of the article "and he also did a sub-8 at another iron-distance race somewhere in Europe"

just completely blew it off

They also called Chrissie Wellingtons performance at IMAZ in 2010 the "ironman world record" even though shes gone faster than that in another non-WTC race

Right, true, but then she eliminated all doubts at IM South Africa and went below her Challenge Rothj and IMAZ times.

What is actually funny is that when Luc van Lierde went 7h50 in Roth, it was then called Ironman Europe and was
part of the IM circuit. Roth has always been a fantastic race thanks largely to late Detlef Kuhnel and it's sad to see
WTC just pretending it was never part of Ironman.
