IM Florida

Anyone have any updates on IM Florida? How is the rebuilding going in PCB? I sent an email to IM and the reply was - yes, we are planning on hosting it in PCB. No, we don't have a host hotel yet. Doesn't sound very promising. Anybody live in area? Thoughts on whether this will be going?

I live in the area. PCB is less effected by the hurricane than PC. The host hotel is currently under renovations. Because of the effect of the hurricane, it's very difficult to find places to stay in PCB since that is where many people are living while their homes are repaired. It's also where workers are living that have come in from out of town.

The talk in the area is that the race will be back in PCB and I believe it but it may be a little more challenging than usual to find places to stay. The race course area itself is usable again.

Well the race is a long ways away so there is lots of time yet. I would not be concerned about it, I'm sure barring any more major weather events they will put the race off. Gulf Coast 70.3 is still going ahead as far as I'm aware, and that's in May

IM Florida will be fine. It’s going to go off as usual. It’ll be nice to see some pro racing back in action there for the fist time in 5 years.

I ran part of the course a couple of weeks ago. The fun mile has a few damaged houses that are being repaired. Some of the condo buildings are being completely overhauled, some seem to be fine. The road coming back on the bike course is currently crap because they're doing sewer work
It looks good to go, maybe a bit low on accommodations for 70.3, but for November it will be back in full swing. Not optional anyway, it's how they make their money.

I've been trying to find a list of the pro races this year but I can't find it anywhere on the IM site. Can you link it?

They're actually adding bike/tram lanes on that stretch of road. So the first and last mile of the bike should have a 10-11' lane for bikes just like South Thomas Drive does in front of the host hotel.
