Hunt 50 wheel alternatives
I am looking for a wheelset for a disc brake road bike with the following criteria:

-medium depth (40 to 60??) for some aero benefit
-wide internal width (21ish) for comfort on bad roads and better aero with 25-30 tires
-reasonable cost
-light-ish
-disc brake

Usage would be for training and for sprint triathlons on courses where a tri bike might not be the best choice for ME (bad quality roads, lots of climbing or rollers, lots of cornering, etc.). You don't need to tell me to ride a tri bike for all races...I'm looking for a fun alternative on certain courses.

I was leaning toward Hunt 50 wheels but the current lead time is a bit of a turn off so I'm searching for alternatives.

Wheels that have been bumped lower on the list:

Enve (expensive)
Hed Vanquish 6 (expensive)
Hed Jet 6 Plus Disc (expensive)
Flo (price is right but narrower internal rim width, heavier)
Zipp (expensive, narrower internal width)
Roval 64 CLX (expensive)

Any other alternatives I should be looking at?
Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Shop for HED Jet 6 Plus wheels on sale. They are frequently discounted by 30% and sometimes as much as 40%. Give My Bike Shop a call or email. They are between sales at the moment, but they might be able to hook you up or give you guidance. I got my set of Jet 9/Disc Black wheels at a killer sale for around $1,500 total, if memory serves me correctly.

How do you categorize almost all of them as expensive when there is $1000 in price spread within products you designated expensive?

You will be better off picking a budget and getting recommendations for best wheel within that range

A Hunt 50 wheelset is $1180. The wheelsets classified by me as "expensive" are $1800 and up. So I'm ideally interested in wheelsets around $1200 or less

I don’t have experience with any of these, but they come close to your criteria. I think internal rim width for all of them however is <20 mm

Reynold Assault ~$1100
Williams wheel (they have 45 and 60 mm depth rims) $1400-1440
Boyd Wheels (they have 44 or 60 mm depth rims) $1650-1700

Bringing this thread active again as I was also looking at the Hunt 50 disc wheels.
I am also considering the Reynolds Aero 46's which are around the same price.

Anyone have any feedback or experience with the Reynolds Aero 46 disc wheels?
Rim profile is different from most other brands that are going round......

Wide wing profile (for lack of a better description) IS the new hotness.
Bontrager Aeolus xxx, etc.
Certainly tested well according to the hambini thread. (side note, Hunts didn't...)

Well thanks for the info.....My Bike Shop has the Reynolds Aero 46 DB Carbon Clincher on sale right now so I ended up pulling the plug and ordered a set. Didn't realize they have a lifetime warranty as well.....so that was an added bonus.
