HumanPoweredRacing - Cowichan Race report
Quote | Reply
There is a new group running events in Victoria https://www.humanpoweredracing.ca/

They assumed operation of the Cowichan Challenge at Fuller Lake park, this past week. What a beautiful race through a natural setting. So much fun, my daughter and I did the sprint. Check them out!

Our race went like:
She had a great swim FOP 5th OA, used her road bike and then ran me down! P1 in her AG.
I took off up front in the swim, got way too spiked. My Helix suit (2 years since using it) felt sooo tight took minutes to recover breath and get back in. I did think about grabbing hold of SUP.
Then I couldn't get the damn suit off in T1..what a mess.

Now on deficit, no choice but to torch the bike & take my chances running. Caught my daughter I rode with her for a bit, then put the boots back to T2. Last 1km in run was an Iron War with an ITU racer for the 80-85 AG. On the final uphill I made a move held on to the finish 10 sec gap. HR170

A week of treadmill paid off - got a semblance of a run back. Am 3 for 3 this year, despite have to walk a lot :(.

PIX: Lucy CB's stunt double ready to rock:

5th out

Yours truly after messed swim & rolling around in T1:

There was a good showing, w/over 100 registered. Prediction was for rain which came later, so there were a few DNS.
Smooth roads.

The old standard distance bike was a big loop with some fast country highway and some backroad cobbly sections. This time the standard was simply two laps of the sprint.
