365 days long, same as every year.

I don't race that often, but I'm always training hard for something, or so it seems.

Is it too early to be planning my 2008 and 2009 seasons?

[reply]How long is your season? First race to your last race[/reply]
Any race or just triathlon/duathlon? My season start and ends in autumn. Normally the first race is a local cross (7k run) at the end of November. Then I do a lot of runs until spring.
The first multisport event is a cross duathlon in March. The first 'real' duathlons are in May and the tri season starts in June (next year in May a IM Lanzarote).

Often the last race is a IM in autumn: this year Elbaman, 05 Hawaii, 04 Powerman Zofingen
The I have a ~4 week break from training.

I did my first race this year in March and just decided that IM Wisconsin will be my last triathlon this year. I'm going to do some bike racing (cyclocross and charity events) this fall but no more tris until next year for me.

February - October. That's race season. Training is pretty much year round.

This weekend will be my 14th triathlon, 17th du/tri, and 27th race ( including running and cycling) of the year. I have 1, 2, or 3 more races planned in the next month depending on how next weekend goes (first IM).

For tris May-September, but I'll do some 5&10k's throughout the year, maybe a half-marathon in December too.

Just counting triathlons it'll be from early May until late October (if I do Ironstar).

I get off to a late start because of the nature of my work and can't really race until after the April 15th income tax deadline.

I'll likely run a half marathon in mid December if you include non triathlon events.

I commute year-round and motorists think I'm always in season :-)

The multi-sport season in this neck of the woods (MN) is short - mid-May to mid-September. But I'll often start early or extend it by traveling. This year it runs from June 10 to October 21.

Mid April through early November.

Which corresponds precisely to the "weather window" we have for triathlons here in northern California.

Then, some running races in the winter.

Hmm. Good question.

Speaking of stricly races, The Icicle Run in January starts things off, and the Philadelphia Marathon in November finishes, but I never really stop moving.

I have four seasons that I can think of: Winter Base (January-April), Triathlon (May-August), Dragon Boat (August-October), then Marathon (August-November).

Works for me - always something new on the horizon.

Tinsel triathlon, that's a kick ass race. My friend won it last year. (and maybe the year before too? I forgot) Anyway, my season this year started in February with some mountain bike racing and a road race (my first one, I missed the start, so it was more like a time trial) and it will end in about 2.5 weeks with the Xterra nationals.

I begin the year on 1/1 training for Boston, and end it on 10/29 with a 1/2 IM in Arizona. Recover a bit (read - watch football) until 1/1 and then start all over again.
