Damn, well, that takes any drama out of Kona...I mean people think Dibens and some of the other 70.3'ers are going to give her a test, but now she's running as fast as them....

WOW

Everyone said last year "Well, Rinny can maybe run her dow one day" to which Chrissie seems to have said "Uh, I have another trick for you."

Chrissie at Kona, barring mechanicals, could go top 10 OVERALL.

Methinks she wants her Kona run record back now too, after lending it out for a year.

She finished in 8.19. A 4.36 bike split. A 2.48 run. She is just phenomenal.
Heck she's so good that no one cares about Rasmus Henning going 7.52 with a 2.39 run!

I remember the year I did my first triathlon was the same year Lothar Leder went under 8 hours - first time anyone had ever done that in an IM. The hoopla over that accomplishment was significant, to say the least. What was that 1996? 1997? Now, less than 15 years later, Chrissie W. is getting pretty damn close to doing it herself! I can hardly even fathom what she is doing these days.... Un-freaking-believable!! We'll be talking about her race today for a looooong time, methinks.

If we leave out doping - which we have to - it is discouraging to see what difference talent can make. I am sure she trains as hard as anyone but not harder than everyone. I mean, look at the other "girls"! They look like machines already and their times are very fust just as well.

Is this the point where we mere mortals should just relax and turn our passion away from racing and to touring with coffee and beer stops?

That will be the drama in Kona. I'd love to see her beat Macca.

1996. I did my first triathlon at that race (IM Europe).

So, the way I understand it, that rule is gone now...But what if they had kept it?

With today's performance in Roth, no other woman would get a Kona slot (yeah, I know, it's not a WTC race anymore), nor would they get any prize money.

That'd be funny.

Amazing! Hands down. Kona will be a great spectacle. She will definitely in the top ten overall.
Is there any woman in the field - besides Chrissie - who can run a sub 2.48 run at the moment? In triathlon that is... ;-)

I'm willing to bet that she will NOT be in the top-10 overall. Top-25 would be more accurate, I'm guessing. I'll say 21st overall. How's that for an early prediction?

A classmate of mine in graduate school was a former ITU guy; he knew Chirssie really well back in the day and said that he had never seen anyone train as hard as she does. Not only does she have amazing talent but it also sounds like she puts in more work than anyone and that's a dangerous combination! Kind of like Jerry Rice/ Michael Jordan type combination.
