Help with HR training

I'm curious about my LTHR. I've done the 30 mins run test and have been training in these Zones. But I thought threshold Heart rate would only be sustainable for around an hour? Mine is after the test read 174BPm. But during a recent half marathon my Heart rate leveled off at around 182 and it stayed there for nearly 2 hours!!! I also did a max HR test at 194. Does anyone have any ideas why this is?

The 30 minute test is meant to measure the effort you can sustain for 1 hour, not the heart rate. Usually you measure your average heart rate (just to be clear because you said it was 174 AFTER the run). You could slow down but your heart rate might stay up due to a variety of factors (cardiac drift, heat, etc.)

If your max is 194, it would not be unusual for you to sustain 90% of that for a half marathon or even a full. But if your pace or effort was the same as the 30 min run, you need to do the test again and run harder.

Bottom line: that all adds up.
