Help my cracking feet!
Just wondering if anyone else has problems with dry feet that develop cracks that open and are very sore. If so, what helps?

Thanks,
Jeff

rub your feet well with lotion before bed.

then put plastic bags over them(grocery bags work well)

Put rubber bands around your ankles to hold the bags.

This will keep the moisture in.

Continue for one week and evaluate!

I have had some cracks and dry skin on my feet to over the years. I used my girlfriends foot file sanding thing (I don't know the official name for it). I would try to "sand" away the really thick skin and then use a moisturizer a least a couple of times a day. If its really cracked and bleeding I would put polysporn on it.

try eucerin lotion on those feet. and put the lotion on when the feet are wet, the lotion will trap in that moisture. and do no pick at that skin, you will just a bigger problem!

Ug. When I saw the thread title I thought you meant cracking bones. My feet crack all the time. I could never sneak up on someone.

Try Aquaphor (my answer to almost everything) after you shower. It's super thick and works great on dry skin and to prevent chafing.

Good luck.

DO NOT DO THIS

Dry cracking feet are often caused by very sweaty feet. Sticking them in plastic bags will make the problem worse.

Wear wicking socks whenever you can, wear breathing shoes, and go barefoot whenever you can. Use Goldbond foot powder.

Kick your shoes off under your desk....if you can.

I've got this. Sand that sucker down, lube, and wear socks. I also use bacitracin ointment.

for the crack, superglue it (seriously). Make sure the superglue is cyanoacrylate. It will wear off. The soreness is from the skin crack rubbing apart with weight bearing.

There are a million home remedies and OTC creams/lotions as you just heard. Auqafor is nice. Eucerin (lots of diff kinds) are nice. Topical steroids under occlusion work for some.

I like the creams (not lotions) with urea in them. Urea will break down the collagen crosslinking of the dead/excessive skin and really helps you slough it off. Then, go to town with the pumice stone/file/cheese grater, etc. You can get up to 20% Urea OTC in a variety of creams, 40-50% is Rx (I like Vanamide 40% Rx by Dermik labs best, followed by Keralac 50% or Carmol 40% by Doak pharmaceuticals).

Lastly, walk barefoot in the sand along the beach for a while and your heels will be as smooth as a bowling ball :) Nice excuse for a vacation, huh?

I agree, though that is, technically, two words.
