That does indeed apear to look a lot like the Hed Deep-3. If I remember my research right, Steve Hed custom made two of those for Lance; however due to weather problems, Lance decided to stick with the original for the final TT. I'm curious though, since I don't think Steve ever marked it, if this is the legitimate wheel, or if someone found a way to transplants a Hed Deep rim cover to a Hed3. (That's probably really far fetched, but I just wanted to put that on the table.)

-the only thing worse than my equipment is when I pass you and your super sweet Hed wheels.

I would assume that that is a legitimate Hed 3. I believe the athlete is Tim Don, but even if it isn't that same athlete competed at the Lifetime Fitness Tri and used that same wheel. Since Steve Hed was at the race and spotted in the transition area, I would assume he would have raised a fuss if that was not a legitimate wheel.

The deep HED3 has been around for a while, just not in production. The wheel is heavier and I believe that is why Lance did not ride it in the tour even though one of his guys did.

Hey Mark... what's up with your website? It's down, and my emails to Ben Popp keep getting sent back saying the server is not responding.
