Head position matters

Not sure if this has been posted, but Specialized did a wind tunnel test on head position.

The only thing that really surprised me was that position two was so much slower than position three.

Anyways, just wanted to share.

That's because the helmet they were using had a big tail imo. I would be interested to see the aerohead in position 2 vs their helmet in position 3.

Head position is important but I call BS on the numbers in that test. Shoulder position is more important than head position, and position 3 has him shrugging his shoulders, which is surely a big source of the gains. Also his head/helmet position isn't great in any of the three positions, though 3 does look the best. I guess it's good publicity for Specialized though, which is all they care about clearly.
