HED and ABG - I don't get it?

Other than Steve being a great guy, why would he want to consult ABG on how to make wheels? Although I understand no one really makes an equivalent tri-spoke, the deep rim market seems to be pretty saturated already? Why not partner with ABG and re-brand HED wheels? It seems that partnerships with manufacturers has been what ZIP has done to grow the fact that they may have a better product and manufacturing may have also helped.....although I own HED myself :)).

there are a couple of reasons for your answer. the first is, because they asked him. it's remarkable how often i've seen steve drop what he's doing and spend days helping someone work, for no money, on a project.

but the strategic issue is that the wheels he's helping ABG build are OEM wheels, and not anything that would compete with his aftermarket wheels. they're a style of wheels he doesn't build anymore.
