I cant find the picture, but my thought is it may not be a sponsor. Does Giant sponsor any triathletes? It's a budget bike so maybe he bought it

Sorry, the photo didn't upload first time round. Edited and included!

And yes, Giant do sponsor athletes to varying degrees (Mike Phillips, Steve Mckenna, Hannah Wells etc). I suspect after winning 70.3 worlds he'll have a proper bike sponsor now and very much doubt it'll be budget!

That is logical since he is spending a weekend in Taiwan. And he did get a lot of attention in Taiwan from wearing the cap at Nice.

Gustav Iden has said that he got multiple offers for sponsorship after Nice.

Yes, That is Giant's headquarter office in Taichung behind him so most def Giant. Good for them. They need the exposure and can afford it too.

In that case a sponsored flight and Giant Trinity Advanced Pro 2?

Addaboy!

Does giant make aero helmets or is that only rebadging for tdf?

Eta... Looks like advance pro 1 is a higher version than advanced pro 2

Giant officially confirmed : https://www.instagram.com/p/B4wzfenBobU/

Very funny indeed
He became a hero in Taiwan from this cap he found somewhere and used during his 70.3 WC win, and finally choose Giant as bike sponsor, going there to visit the temple and get his bike.

Giant still need to present a disc TT/Tri bike (if not mistaken), no doubt he will be a good leverage to the Tri community, along with Appo

Casper Stornes (using Argon 18 previously) also annouced a new bike/wheel sponsors for Bahrein 70.3.

I guess Blu will stay with Spe ?

Blu is signed to Specialized through the end of 2020 if memory serves (most people signed deals to bring them through the Olympics, it's just the guys who didn't have bike sponsors that are making switches on the ITU side for next year... It'll be more of a musical chairs scenario at the end of 2020... When decks get shuffled...

I'm not a Giant fan at all, but kind of awesome story that a random hat choice, gets him a cult following in Taiwan, and a Taiwanese brand jumps on board and backs him for next year. That's what's cool about this sport...

Really good for triathlon as well! Everyone loves a rags to riches story (even if that might be slightly exaggerated). And especially good for long course triathlon I think! I always think its pretty funny when the ITU fans say, "Oh man this is embarrassing for long course guys. They must hate ITU guys coming in and winning everything." Bring em. Mo' people, mo' money!

Almost all Aussie pros are sponsored by Giant / have a Giant between their legs

Australia seems like a pretty good market for Giant, they are probably the cheapest option for a great bike with good after sales support.

The joke of the day.

Which part? I was unaware of the existing sponsorship, so that was just ignorance on my part because I only follow the pointy end of some IM races. Ans I think it's well established that the Trinity is one of the cheapest superbikes available. $6,200 for a fully integrated bike, including storage, with SRAM AXS and a Quarq powermeter.

Here's the story here. Cool alright. Taiwanese are very nice people, so he's really landed on his feet here. Good for him.

Thats fun, kind of a Forest Gump style chain of events

Is part of the contract that he always races in that cap now? If so hopefully they will make a kona edition temple cap thats more sportscap/visor/headband style

Are Cadex wheels a thing or is that just to roll out the launch

Yep cadex wheels are Giant's top level wheels, depending where in the world you are they might already be available to you
