Gumwall Training Tire?
I see the Vittoria Corsas and the Turbo Cotton... but I've been using gator skins for years. I admit that I want to switch to a gumwall for aesthetics, but I don't want to give up *too* much puncture resistance from the gator skins...

Is there a good all around tire available in a gumwall?

Can't you just use GP5000s for daily use?

Edit: Even the GP4000s have been shown by some tests to be more puncture resistant than the GP5000s, if you want to get picky about it. I just like the GP5000 a lot as a tire though.

(sorry, ignoring gumwall asthetics as I like black personally)

If it wasn’t for the gumwall desire, I’d keep on with gatorskins.

Apparently, conti makes the GP Classic which looks like I want, but I don’t know how well it would perform over the GP5000

Got around 600 on em so far, they're not showing any flattening yet. No idea how long they'll go. Got em "cheap" on ebay. 85 for the pair

Ya the Turbo cotton is an amazingly durable tire considering how fast it is.

Are you sure the Gatorskins are making much difference to your puncture frequency. I stopped using them 7 years ago having had 2 or 3 punctures in a couple of years using them. I've had less than one per year since I switched to GP4000, Michelin Pro4 SC, and GP4000sII. I'm not saying they offer more protection, luck has a lot to do with it, but I personally haven't seen any downside, just a whole lot of upsides to abandoning Gatorskins. If you ride somewhere with special risks fair enough, but if you use Gatorskins just in case you get punctures, I'd recommend re-thinking. The other tyres I mentioned are so much nicer to ride on.

Snagged a set of Corsa Controls last night.

I hope you're right, but also, I've had very good luck on the Gran Prix 4000s...

Now I just have to figure out whether the Conti GP4000s should remain on the race wheels or whether I should opt for the turbo cottons and risk it. Doing Muncie in 3 weeks.
