Bjorn seems like a heavy rider.. it's impressive how he still gains time over the hills. But.. my money is on Eneko.

Bjorn has been running real well lately, we focused slightly on this race but didnt gear up for it completely. If Juhanson who won Volcano Triathlon a few weeks ago is on today, he is the man to watch out for.

ironmanlive said Bjorn looked fresh coming into T2 and Juhanson didn't, for what that's worth. Was Bjorn planning to hold back at all on the bike to set up his run? He's posted the fastest bike split, but not by much over Juhanson.

we have been using an Ergomo Power meter to help with pacing and effort these past two weeks and at Lanza. The goal was to ride strong, stay steady and easy on the climbs and not burn to many matches on the bike. It will be interesting to see how he holds on. This is is 1st Ironman I am not with him since New Zealand last year.

Is he racing with the Ergomo? If so I am assuming that he is using the Q rings in place of the Rotor Cranks he has used in the past.

I wonder what kind of Wattage is needed to go sub 5 on that brutal Lanzarote course?

Bjorn is now using Ergomo as his official Powermeter joining Thorbjorn, Natasha Badman, Jonas Colting, Ragnar Alne and Ute Meukal.

He is using them with Campy 180 cranks with a standard 58t chainring. Rotor does not make a 58 or 56 for that matter so we cant go that direction until they can/do.

maybe you should rebadge a mdt oval ring. i've got a 55t. 58 won't fit, i think 56 will.

We have been using the 58t for a little bit now. We first had the FSA 56t TT ring on the bike (when he was in Florida) I am not sure if he put the 56 back on for Lanza.

This is what Bjorn said to me in his last update to me-

"...Sat in the base bar today averaging 299W for 60km with NP of 332W. Should be able to hold that and a bit more for Lanza very easily. We'll see on saturday"...

Ill know what his numbers are when he emails the file to me!

R&A Cycles Tri Spoke and disk. The same setup he has used in Arizona (yes for 4 whole miles ;-)) and at St. Anthonys. His bike looks like this minus the rotors and add a campy crank and ergomo

I thought discs were banned at Lanzarote? Due to the similar winds to kona

that is the wheelset we packed for him, there is a possibility he isnt using the disk on the rear.

Post of the day and I just logged on!

Unfortunately, the sport is swim/bike/run. Some get it, some don't!

What are the Runners doing?

Let’s have a closer look on the 1st 5k. Allen is a big mover and Schellens is starting slow for a top runner, Lierde as well:
Andersson 21:50, Juhanson 20:30, Liebetrau 20:50, Llanos 20:48, Martinez 20:30, Kohls 22:30, Allen 19:10, Hellriegel 21:50, Schellens 19:10, van Lierde 20:10, Chris Brands 22:25, Nils Goerke 21:00.

Ein Blick auf die Splitzeiten der Läufer zeigt, dass Allen recht schnell anläuft. Für seine Verhältnisse ist Schellens noch nicht schnell unterwegs, van Lierde läuft auch konzentriert an.
