Forerunner 735xt calories low for run

Did a run with 169 bpm average heart rate for 90 minutes. Garmin connect shows 399 calories burned. That seems low. What am I missing?

Mine does the same thing. Seems to really lowball running calories and, in my estimation, inflate cycling calories burned. After looking at internet posts on this it seems to be whatever formula used by the device. And the complaints aren't unique to Garmin devices.

Yes, I agree. https://forum.slowtwitch.com/...d_P6441738/#p6441738

I think it's because if you have a step tracking watch, the "run" calories are those above and beyond what the same number of steps would be.

So, for a ~1 hour run, you get the calories burnt for ~10,000 steps in the normal activity tracking, and then the run calories are just the additional ones for running.

Is it a specific setting causes this issue? Profile settings are correct (i.e. weight, etc)? My 735XT seems to compute calories accurately. I ran a 13.1 yesterday and it says 1557C burned. It seems accurate on my other training runs too.

Are you using the built on HR sensor or an additional strap?

I typically use a HR strap for running/biking. The optical HR is just not accurate for me during workouts.

Maybe check your weight in the settings.
