I'm lucky enough to be racing my first Kona in a little over two weeks, and am starting to work in some time in the sauna after swims. I can be in the water just after 5 am, when the pool I swim at opens, and I need to be showering at 6:30 to get back home to get the kids up and out.
I'm not the strongest swimmer (1:04 in my KQ) and would probably benefit from longer swims - I usually do 3-4 weekly swims of 3.5k to 4.5k in most swim sessions (yards). However, with trying to spend a bit of time in the sauna after swims, I have cut my in water time to about one hour - this equates to around 3400-3500 yards, and then I can get around 25 minutes in the sauna. What is more beneficial at this time - two weeks out from Kona - more time in the water or a bit more time in the sauna to hopefully help with the heat/humidity? Am I just overthinking this???
