You need a lot more reach!

Definitely not up. Moving back will also effectively move up so down 1cm, back 1cm. Rotate and adjust front end accordingly, probably down.

IMO ur elbow 2 wrist length looks fine. You need a longer stem or the ability to get those pads out further

Bike is too small. Saddle needs to go up about 25 mm - armpads need to move forward around 30 mm.

Also, you look like you aren't sitting on that saddle right. What saddle is that?

If the saddle goes up and inch he won’t be able to reach the pedal even on his tippe-toes...like he is kind of riding now?

I am currently on the Bi saddle srt. I have the ext on my roadie at this point so I do have that option
Rode a Cobb forever on my Trek, but prostate surgery finds that one very uncomfortable right now
Just for reference- I was riding a Trek TTX 9 -2010 model-fitted professionally size small- then we hit a car
and that was that for my baby
Now with the new baby- sent fit coordinates in and was told to go with the Med. Canyon
I have dropped the seat 1cm and back 1cm- going to ride it later- get video and post to see if how that works
Also will move pads forward 20 cm that I have left as it sits
Thanks everyone so far for the assistance

Lots of slack in his knee. Toe-ing down isn’t always about reaching for the pedals.

This has to be the first time anyone ever said seat was too low
Thinking about moving it back up 1cm from original video
Suggestions from there- another cm or 2?
Should move the seat forward as well?
thanks

What Trent (Nix) said a few posts is where I'd start.

I'd start with a single change at a time. Until you get your cockpit sorted no I wouldn't go forward much though or your knees are going to be in your bars.

I agree, but if the saddle is raised from the original position he won’t be able to reach the pedal at the bottom of the stroke.

It sounds like he has issues that prevent him from sitting on the saddle “correctly” so it will be hard to get him in the “ideal” triathlon position.

A video of actual pedaling would help as well.

Stop saying this, you are confusing the OP.

Pointing toes can indeed be a symptom of a saddle that is too high, but it is not a definitive symptom. Raising his saddle he will still be able to reach the pedals as his leg will be extending more.

You seem to be the only one confused? I have simply stated if the saddle is moved up a full inch from original position as recommended, with no saddle or rotation changes due to having stated limitations, he will have very little, if any, bend in the knee...with the same toe point. Haven’t commented that toe point is good or bad. I typically agree with what the two experts suggest on these types of threads, even if not at first, but think an inch is too much.

It is a 3 second video. Hard to tell anything by it. Put it up an inch from original and try it out. That’s why he is here.

I’d almost repeat it again.....Almost. Saddle slightly back to increase reach out front. This would slightly increase saddle height which is why I said down to keep the same effective saddle height. That also hinges on the riders ability to rotate and sit on it like a tri bike.

His saddle is as far forward as it can go. I don’t see how he could ride a one size larger frame as suggested either. Sliding back slightly would accomplish the same thing and still relatively same position in regards to bb.

This also all based on a 2 second slow motion video.

Good luck to the op. Try an inch up, I just think that is too much given current position and limitations.

Here is new video-longer too
Went up 2cm with seat, back 1cm from last video (1cm up, normal back from first video)
Feels different obviously but not bad. Feel like I should pull ext. out 1 cm feel crunched
Definitely need to tip seat down a bit more as the boys were talking
Speaking of seats any reason I could nosed saddle better other than comfort?
Thanks guys this has been awesome

You feel crunched because you are. I agree you could have sized up on the bike easily... but that doesn't really help you now.
So, you need to make room between the front of the saddle and the armrests. (effectively, make the bike longer) I would also guess part of the reason you aren't sitting on the bisaddle "as it's intended" (ie - it's damn uncomfortable) is because if you were to sit on the very nose of it with your twig and berries off the nose your knees would be in your elbows, and so you're sitting about halfway up the saddle. I should have expanded on my first post when I said "up and back" - someone pointed out that normally you go down and back to preserve angles, which is true but assumes you're starting with a relatively dialed fit... which you are not. Also slamming the saddle as far forward on the rails as it will possibly go sometimes is the way, but it's also somewhat of a holdover from when triathletes were riding bikes that came stock with much slacker seat tubes than a modern Canyon does.

So, more reach, sit on the nose of the saddle, and rotate your hips. Then take a video of that and let's see where you are.

check out this video, should help with visualizing the saddle rotation
