Felt B2 2013 rear direct mount brake issue

I just received my Felt B2 frame :) Sweet!! I want to replace the brakes for Shimano Ultegra 68xx series and ran into a little problem with the rear brake. This since the Shimano BR-6810-R rear direct mount brake is not using the direct mount "pegs" that the TRP rear brake is mounted on. Can these "pegs" be unscrewed and removed from the frame to fit the Shimano brake?
