East Coast 70.3
First, I’m brand new to the sport. Just bought a Tri bike from one of the doctors that I call on for work. I’ve been a runner for the past decade but I decided I was ready for a change from single sport. My question is regarding 70.3 races, specifically on the East Coast. I would like to plan on doing two next year but other than Ironman website and the setup events website for N.C. based triathlons, is there a website I can use to find more 70.3 races? Thank you in advance. I’ve used the search function and found names of races, i.e. Lobsterman, but wanted to see if anyone could point me in the direction of a triathlon calendar.

If you're in NC you should also check out FS Series: https://fsseries.com/
They have a half distance race in May in New Bern and a ton of other races around the Raleigh/eastern NC area.

There is the Outer Banks half in Manteo, which FS started iirc: https://www.outerbanks.com/outer-banks-triathalon.html

Trivium Racing puts on some tri's as well: http://triviumracing.com/

Jones Racing puts on a few tri's mainly in the Piedmont down to Charlotte region: https://jonesracingcompany.com/

I've raced multiple times over multiple years with all three, as well as Set up. Each has their own feel to the race.

I'd advise you to not get fixated on doing just half's. Race sprints/Oly's and you'll be a better triathlete for it.

Legally, the only 70.3 races in the world are Ironman 70.3 races. No other entity can state that their race is a 70.3 (even if it is!) So what you are asking is what other websites can you use to find independent half or middle distance races. Here are a few:

http://www.challenge-family.com. Look for Challenge Daytona December 2018
http://www.toughmantri.com Toughman South Carolina is their east coast race held in Sep.
http://www.sommersports.com Look for the Intimidator Half, March 2019 in Clermont, Florida
http://www.multirace.com They put on the Florida Half @ Jenson Beach in April and the MiamiMan Half at the Miami Zoo every Nov
http://www.trimapper.com Shows you triathlons around the world by region

And just for fun, you should do the Virgin Island's Triathlon (formerly the St Croix 70.3 in May, now an independent in December.

Thank you to everyone for the information. I do plan on doing sprints and Olympic triathlons and those will be my primary focus. Being new to triathlon, I mainly was concerned about recovery time in between half distance races and wanted to ensure that I could find two races with enough time between them to ensure recovery. I had no idea there were this many organizations putting on races. Thank you again

Kinetic Multisports has a bunch of Sprint/Oly/Half distances races throughout VA, MD and DE (they used to be part of Setup Events). Depending on where you live I would recommend checking them out.

There are several races on http://www.setupevents.com, including at least two 70.3 distance races at White Lake, North Carolina in the spring and fall. They don’t typically publish next year’s races until about November-ish, but they do a great job IMO

In addition to what's already been mentioned, there is Xterra and many other types of races year round at the US National WWC in Charlotte.

Ironman Augusta 70.3 is worth looking into. It’s a beginner friendly event and isn’t too far from NC. Usually the last Sunday in September I think.
