Did Igor Amorelli lost IM Brazil also due to bike position?
Last sunday was IM Brazil, the difference between Jesper Svensson (1st) and Igor Amorelli (2nd) was 6'25''. Looking at pics of bike position:

Is it possible to say that the majority of this difference was because of the poor Amorelli position compared to Svensson?

Looks to me like Svensson is taking a drink, I doubt that's his true position. Wouldn't be able to train on open roads with it IMO, need to be able to look ahead.

If those were indeed their respective positions, yes the lower head position might be 6+ minutes faster over 112 miles. It would be simplistic to assume the race could be reduced to a math problem though.

In this bike position, Amorelli was 9th out of the bike in Kona/17.
Last Sunday at IMBR, he had a broken pedal right out of T1. He lost at least 5 min there.

That is how he rides. Very good position.

It was also his debut at the full distance. Promising!

Amorelli's position is pretty crap, at least in that pic. One static shot doesn't tell the whole story though

It would be hard to pin the exact time lost between those two positions to the nearest :30 over 180k. About this or that is the best you're probably going to get.

I'd say about 2-4 min..based on that static shot*

*actual results may vary

I think that it is indeed his position. Look at this instagram vid:

But he had a mechanical problem that his left pedal broken as soon as he left T1 and he rode without clipping the shoes...

Video shows a nice position, but not the one from the photo where his head is below the arch of his back. At least that's what I think I'm seeing.

It's just fair to post a riding vid of Igor Amorelli as well.
