Di2 Compatibility for Ultegra 6800+ Any issues to be aware of?
I just got a new old bike. Currently in transit and has an older Dura Ace mechanical groupset. I'd like to switch to Di2 or perhaps eTap. I'll be pricing out parts to see an approximate total and then figure out what to buy. Since I've already dealt with Di2, I know how to install for the most part, etc etc.

I know 6770 is obsolete with 10 speed compatibility only, no synchro shift and you can't mix and match 6870 and 6770 parts as far as I know without workarounds. I believe if you don't have the latest firmware, you kept this capability.

At any rate, I'm looking at having 11 speed on the new bike and want to know of any nuisances I should be aware of, or what to stay away from for anything 6870 and newer. Compatibility issues, mix and matching. I think I may want synchro shift. Not sure.

Thanks for the help!

I wanted to be really annoyed at this response however the straight to the point charting does make perfect sense with no fluff.

Thanks!

Yeah, Shimano really nailed it here. I also found the e-tube software a breeze to use when I upgraded a few components from 6770 to 9070.
