It's not the Modolo or the Campa Delta. The one on DeBoom 's bike is smaller. It seems like it has the same shape as the fork.

They sort of look like these from Poshbikes.

They could be a later version. Damn, you can hardly see them.

Wager a guess on how much AX Lightness wants for a pair of those brakes? Remember, they are the home of the $300 seats...

I thought it was a Brew or perhaps Cat but after squintin some more realize it aint possible cause of the Delta-like straight pull down from the top and complete lack of pull-arm. Anyone else know??

Well,
There are several brakes that look similar to this all with the delta design. They are of course the Campy Delta, Modolo chronos (which the campy are a copy of), Shimano AX, Hooker (which is smaller and lighter, but not black like in photo), Zipp carbon (which is bigger and bulkier) and MRC.

I am not sure if it might be a MRC since I cant find a pic of one, and cant remember exactly what they look like. If memory servs me correctly (which I doubt) I would guess that this is it. I remember within the last year there was a brake that was being sold on Ebay that matches EXACTLY the brake caliper in the photo. I still wish I bid a little higher. In any case, I cant remember the one on Ebay was a MRC or some other brand which is what is on DeBooms bike. If anyone can remember please let me know. Now it is kinda bugging me to figure this one out.
Thanks!

Nope, not a MRC. These look almost exactly like the Hotta brake except a little boxier.
Im still not sure what that brake is, but I know that I saw it once before on Ebay; and it was very light (like 89g for the caliper). If anyone has any other clues as to the identity, please let me know, its really starting to bug me.
Thanks

90% sure that its not the modolo brake. It looks very similar, which is the first thing that I thought of the first time that I saw this other brake caliper for sale that I believe to be identicle to the one that Deboom has (possibly he bought it off Ebay, and was the one who out bid me). It is more sleek than the modolo, and does not have a high a 'flute' or neck on the top of the caliper that the modolo caliper has. The one that I am thinking of is also reported to be lighter than the modolo brake caliper and looks just a little bit smaller. I just wish that I could remember what that brake was called now. It is kinda like having a song stuck in your head that you cant remember the exact tune or words.

Okay so I feel a little nearer to discovering the answer to the mystery of the front brake caliper, but would you now take a close look at the photo above and please tell me what the 'things' on the bars, where the brake levers should be, on the red Specialized are?

Thanks Andya

Those are Profile aero brakes from a few years ago. Pretty aero, but didn't stop for a damn, and very non intuitive in operation.

What a great pic! Talk about being able to really examine the details of what they are really using. Like check out Peter's chaingrings. Do you have any more photos like this of the pro rack?

Any idea if there is a site that I can visit to find out more/buy those brake levers? I can't find them on Profiles site.

Thanks Andya

Sorry, that is the only picture of the pro bikes I got. It was interesting though, there were a lot of people just standing by the fence along the pro rack, just watching the pros put their bikes in.

Profile doesn't make them any more, most likely because they didn't work very well. I don't think they sold very well at the time either, so there most likely won't be many on eBay, etc.

Andy,

I have a set but had to take them off my aero bars because my bar ends are the type with the uptuned ends like the Litespeed in the picture. You will notice the bars using the levers has straight bar ends, not the upturned ends. If your bars are upturned you cannot crank your wrists back enough to get the brakes to work well. But I would guess it would work much better with the flat barends since you will get more leverage from your wrists.

Willy,

If you look closely at Peter's (Specialized) and Cam's (Litespeed) bars I think you will notice they are actuall the same bar. Peter has just cut his ends off behind the bend.

Thus allowing him to use the Profile bar end brake levers.

So who has the better braking power?

Deboom with normal levers and POS brakes (speculating from the first Modolo reference)?

Or Reid with DA brakes and Profile hard to stop brake "levers"?

I guess when you are riding up front on an out and back course, brakes aren't a real high priority, eh?
