I would be impressed if he managed to hold 8:30s. It's so hard to push for the duration even if you do everything right.

Kind of my point....running at 8:30s downhill is slow. He should be sub 7:30s if he his competitive.

I dunno. If he holds 8:30s he could be in with an outside shot. Maybe not to win the AG but certainly to KQ.

Unless I am looking in the wrong place, it looks like only one guy has hit the 8.2 mile mark ahead of Dave.

VERY doubtful unless he catches a roll down. Based on previous years if he doesn't run sub 3:30 and go better then 9:30 overall in this AG he's nowhere.

I know he is super dedicated to Triathlon and has thrown down great bike splits at 70.3's.....but do you think he blew his wad on the bike? I would think he would have better coaching that would have prevented that if it was the case.

I think he just needs a lot more run fitness and that can take time.

Perhaps. He's coached by Cliff English, so pretty top notch. But I don't know much about the plan between them. Cliff is there and supporting him so I gotta think they have a good plan. I hear it's hot out there on the run, and well, we all know all the many variables so......

I'm just hoping he keeps it together, has some good take homes, and maybe just maybe he sneaks in with a slot or roll down! (Just being positive and fingers crossed!)

I can't imagine cliff told him to go ride 11 minutes faster than anyone in his age group. Seems to me he got a little excited and over biked for his given run fitness. Doesn't surprise me for someone's first IM.
