Dan - your flipturns suck ;-)

You mention in your article on the front page that you are going to compare the Roka Pro 2 to the X. Any consideration to testing against the budget Roka?

I do like your insights on what makes a good wetsuit "good".

But yeah, your flipturns still suck. Deeper, longer.....

Hey. i have a lot of good excuses why theyre bad in that video. But mostly, they suck WORSE in a wetsuit.

You are a sneaky breather. In that video and the one about breathing patterns it is hard to even see when you breath. Most of us lift our heads a lot higher.

his flipturns could be worse - don't look at mine. They are a study in what NOT to do. :-(

I saw this on a white board in a window box at my daughters middle school...

Having swam with Dan at that pool, I can come up with a list of excuses for the poor nature of either one of our flipturns.

But as mentioned, the wetsuit doesn't do much to help. Damn near drowned when trying one in my Helix a few months ago...

i'm going to take another video of myself, sans wetsuit, flip turning, and put it right here on this forum. and, taking consecutive breaths full speed, full gas. so there.

If my pool were open, I would force Kelly to video mine so we can determine who has the worst flip turn on ST.

Yes, they're that bad.

On the plus side, though, I'm not doing all my sets with the buoy anymore.

the more inconspicuous your breath, the easier it is to breathe on consecutive strokes. when i breathe, i look slightly back, toward my shoulder, and point the crown of my head forward and down. i'm breathing below the surface of the water, because when my head is at this aspect i'm breathing in a pocket of air formed by the wake behind my head.

so, no, it's not an illusion in that video that my mouth never breaks the surface of the water. that's actually how i breathe. it's probably the only good part of my stroke. but then i like breathing more than just about anything else that's swim-related.

Great breathing techinique is underrated. In fact I would say your body position and alignment is darn near perfect.

Look you have no power, your turn sucks and your kick is nonexistent. Yet you were moving at 1:15/yards. Not much is required when you are shaped like a pencil

we have something in common. We're both addicted to breathing :-) I wouldn't feel alive with-out it.

For people that want to be a better sneaky breather, a goal to works towards is learning to breathe with only one goggle out of the water. The water line should split your goggles down your nose. The pocket increases in size by the time it hits your mouth. The thing to remember is that if both your eyes are coming above the water line, you're turning your head too much. Works like a charm.

She's lump, she's lump, she's lump, she's in my head.

Is she sneaky breathing or should she stay on land.

Is she swimming free or backstroke or rocking out with the band.
