DT Swiss Arc 1400 tire tubeless question
Hi,

I'm sure someone is going to throw this in one if not more stupid question categories, but here goes. I have a set of DT Swiss arc 1400 wheels that came with my bike and are"tubeless ready". I'm not tubeless ready so running tubes in them. That said, I want to switch tires to conti 5000s. Should I get the conti 5000 tubeless tires or regular tires? Or does it matter?

Thanks!

yes, you need 5000TL tires. Regular 5000 wont work tubeless

If you want to use tubeless tires, buy tubeless tires.

If you want to use clincher tires, buy clincher tires.

I perhaps was not clear on this but with new tires I would be running tubes still.

Then regular clincher tires will work.

I just mounted 5000TL on mine. Feels great and tire sits really flush to the rim width. Rides really nice too

Are you using tubes inside those tires?

No they are tubeless with the TL tire. Not sure if you can just run the TL tires like standard ones. Good question. My mechanic did say it was a little hard to mount, but not overly impossible(He's seen worse). "You wont want to put a tube in here if you flat in a race"

You can run GP5K non tubeless with a tube on these wheels no prob.
You need TL tires if you want to run tubeless.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all tubeless tires clinchers? Though not all clinchers are tubeless.

Yeah, your wheels are hooked, so you're fine.

There are some hookless wheels like the Enve AR that you still need TL tires (according to Enve) even if you're running tubes.

Are ALL DT Swiss Arc 1400 wheels tubeless?

I have a new bike arriving soon and it has DT Swiss Arc 1400s on it. They're rim brakes, but I have no idea if they are tubeless or not. How can I determine that -- and are tubeless going to be much of a different ride feel?
