Currently, there aren't any D1 universities with a NCAA triathlon program for men. Many D1 Universities DO, however, have club teams for both men and women, and some programs with NCAA triathlon programs for women also have club teams for both genders. Club triathlon does not give out scholarships, but some schools have really good club sports programs that cover race entry fees, provide team uniforms, and transportation to races. Others have to raise money year-round for events. Most club teams require team dues. Every year (other than this year, because it was postponed and then cancelled), USA Triathlon hosts a Collegiate Club National Championship with draft legal races for both genders, an olympic distance for both genders, and a mixed-team relay. Here's the link for the 2021 race. Next year, that race weekend in Tempe also includes Age Group Draft-legal nationals since the race that was supposed to happen in Tempe this November has been postponed.

Hope this helps!

As mentioned, there aren't "D1" triathlon programs. That being said, triathlon is a bigger deal at some schools than others. If you look at Collegiate Nationals you'll see the strong programs that typically are high up in the results for both genders.

Top of mind:
Cal (UC Berkeley)...and a lot of the greater UC system
CU Boulder

These also have the advantage of being in areas where there are high levels of triathlon participation. Downside is they are not that easy to get into.

I'm the Head Coach at Wingate University. We are Division II but are starting both a mens (Varsity Club) and womens (NCAA) program, competing in the fall 2021. I am offering scholarships to men. You can fill out the recruit questionnaire to continue the conversation.

I serve as an advisor to the University of South Florida's club triathlon team and was digging into this a bit and wanted to share a couple links that might be worth checking out:

There *are* D1 intercollegiate programs for women - but not currently for men. Some universities look to support club team members, too, in different ways. As I understand it, even club teams are eligible to compete at the National Championships, so if competition and support are top goals it should be possible to find that.
