Cycle computer & powermeter in one
Does anyone have any experience with Niteriders Rebel 8.0 cycle computer and powermeter in one? link: http://www.niterider.com/computer_rebel8.shtml

Apparently the computer takes your current weight which you input once (unless your weight changes) your current altitude and speed and provides you your power output. Spoke to a rep at Niterider who said a friend found this to be pretty accurate to a Powertap. Of course nothing beats the best SRM but for MOP might be an inexpensive way to train with power.

Thoughts?

SO--You could be in Florida and having hurricane force winds, but since you don't weigh much and are on a flat you power output wouldn't change from headwind to tailwind? That's a good training plan.

It's a power estimator and not a power meter, it infers your power output from your speed and rate of ascent.

On a calm day with little wind on a steepish climb it will be relatively accurate. However since it does not take aerodynamic drag into account and can only estimate this figure (CdA) it won't really be accurate at all on the flat or any fast climbs when aerodynamic drag has an effect.

Save your money and buy a Powertap or SRM.
