CrossFit lays down the doping hammer

Interesting once a sport gets popular of people watching god like beasts battle it out they begin doping bans. Such happened with start up of MMA too. But then after some times popularly of the sport dies down (triathlon?) . So is it best for the masses to let them continue doping? NFL is still popular...

LOL. I am shocked!

I bet that gal and her trainer in the 50 Ironman in 50 day thread are totally clean too. I mean, it's not like these people look suspicious or anything. They have super good vitamins I bet.

I watched about half of "The Redeemed and the Dominant" last weekend, and PED's were discussed at length, but the conclusion was that nobody serious was using them... or at least around competition time...

Now I see that the guy who got *third place* and was featured heavily in the film is now banned until 2021 because of PED usage...

I guess they didn't want to update their documentary?

WHAT?! Doesn't the whole concept of drug testing and doping bans fly in the macho face of CrossFit?? Is CrossFit going soft? I never thought I'd hear . . . . .

You should've watched the second half.... I watched the whole thing and it comes out at the end. I saw him as a sacrificial lamb....you know he's not the only one, but he was the newbie, up and comer, so easy to throw under the bus. Drug testing is really more IQ testing....

I almost stppped reading when she said that they wouldn't hear her explanation...right there, I feel like if you already have an explanation ready to go, than your probably breaking the rules.. I mean if doping control shows up at my house and I test positive, I genuinely would have no idea how, I take some amino acids and glutamine, but that is it! So yeah, I would have no clue! fair enough she had an injury, but she declared she was using the drug. If you want clean sports, you need to take out any exceptions as to why you would use a drug.

Ask me how much I love my Kiwami LD Aero Trisuit

Aha!

I actually couldn't make it through the whole documentary. I found the athletes so...annoying. It's also hard to take the events seriously. What was with that run/swim/run event at the start? I guess this makes it a bit more interesting now so I'll finish it ;)

I would not be surprised if all the top people were doping (at some level). If nothing else the "sport" looks really hard on your body, and a great use case for the benefits of PED's.

Huh...I thought Crossfit embraced the dope? Crossfit is as dirt of a sport as you can find.

They have significantly increased their anti doping efforts in the last two years. A few years ago several very popular athletes were becoming more vocal about the PED problem in the sport. Crossfit now follows WADA standards and does event and random testing. It is getting better. I do not think Crossfit as an organization wants doping, in many ways it is counter to their stated founding mission. I do wonder if a few of these sudden retirements from the sport in the last few years were actually doping positives and they were given a choice. A few female competitors recently quit the sport and i strongly suspect this might have been the case. For example, google stacie tovar. Furthermore, some of the early crossfit games competitors, like Rich Froning left the crossfit games, some have suggested because they know they cannot compete without drugs.

They should test to make sure the competitors only used Crossfit WODs to prepare.

She is from here, lots of pool aid drinkers defending her... she played university basketball, she would have had an annual CCES an it doping education session so not buying her rational. If she was so injured that she needs a growth hormone or a growth hormone precursor she needs to be an adult and sit out the season.

meh, they're still not a WADA signatory. i mean, that's not a guarantee of anything of course - plenty of well-tested, signatory sports are plenty suspicious. but being a signatory seems like it's literally the least you could do and Crossfit won't even both to do that.

Psh if they showed up and I tested positive for something I had no idea how it got into my system - i would be thankful.

Imagine what they would have found if they tested me on a Saturday morning after a college fraternity party. That would have been fun to explain. Well you see I was slamming Busch lights and running naked through the house when I tripped and landed on this girls chest - there was white powder on it - but I was out of breath already so naturally I was deeply inhaling - but through my nostrils because its the proper way. Well after I was super hyper which I figured was from the redbull - someone made pizza and put mushrooms on it - and I figured they were healthy so i ate them. Well after seeing the popcorn ceiling dripping rainbows - I decided it was time to cool off in the pool. There were people smoking this thin white cigar and it smelled good so I thought they were celebrating and joined them. Well after some fits of laughter I thought it best I went to bed. As I ran to my bedroom someone was studying for a test and took a pill they said made them focus - so I thought it got rid of their headache and I took the little orange pill - well I was super focused and organized my closet for about 3 hours...

All I know is, when they start testing WWE athletes, I'm done watching sports.

Ya right - take a look at those Curlers. You can't just be that good at a sport that mimics shuffle board but on ice while you have a full time job because of no sponsor support. I bet the drugs are RAMPANT in that sport.

Probably so, but not likely the ones that ENHANCE performance; the ones more commonly associated with beer and pizza. Sounds like a great time!

You’re aware that the bronze medalist in mixed doubles curling at the 2018 Olympics was busted for meldonium and stripped of his medal, right?
