Cough, infection...
Who else here has been having a cough lasting more than 10 days? Starting on augmentin XR this morning, for 10 days. Impossible to get rid of it (plus fatigue, headache)...Seems to be another sinus infection...netti pot is back. Weird thing is I'm not training that much (or wasn't before I got sick, since all I did in 10 days was a 10km run)...
Am I all alone in this big (sick) world? (yeah yeah...HTFU...)

2 months for me Francois. Have had several rounds of antibiotics, chest x-ray, and other tests - all inconclusive. Docs are telling me that it is *probably* allergies - pollen is a bitch here in Atlanta - so I'm sucking it up until pollen season is over. For the most part I feel OK, just an intermittent hacking cough. I've struggled with sinus and ear infections over the last 2 years, a trip to an ear, nose, throat specialist may be on the horizon for me. Hope the Augmentin works for you.

Intermittent hacking cough is spot on...dry often...and happens more often when laying down...specially sleeping...makes your nights short. :(

I raced the Georgia Cup time trial outside of Gainesville on Saturday. I've been hacking and sneezing ever since. I figured it had to be pollen. My red and black bike looked more electric green by the end of the race with all the pollen stuck to it.

Hi Francois-
Sorry to have missed you last weekend; if you come out this way more permanently we can get together then.

My sympathies for your illness. Everyone in my house has had this. At one point I was on 60mg Prednisone / day + Albuterol + inhaled fluticasone + a nasal version of fluticasone (all steroids) + an antibiotic. Even with all this, it still took a few weeks to go away so you might need more patience than you would really like.

Chris... these are NOT the things us sickies want to hear. Take that negative nelly talk elsewhere :P

Although, maybe I should actually start the inhalers the doctor gave me. I had been waiting to get past the sick to start them, but...

D!,
Sorry to hear it got you too. I don't know what inhalers you have received, but if I understood the explanation my doctor gave me for why I was on so much stuff at once, the inhaled fluticasone was second only to the prednisone in reducing the inflammation, which helped reduce the endless coughing, which in turn helped me sleep better, etc.

I have it too. Since early February I've continuously had some version of cough/cold/flu/sinus infection/allergies.

According to my doctor I have "reactive airways" and she put me on Flonase and Advair. Part of the issue for me is anything that gets my sinuses going (allergies, sinus infection) will spread to my chest, hence the Flonase.

The cough came back with a vengence this week so to sleep I've been taking cough supressant and decongestant before going to bed. It helps a bit.

Allergies for me. No cough, just a runny nose, sneezing, and all.I.want.to.do.is.sleep. Like, it's 6 pm and I want to go to bed.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

3 weeks for me. I'm just getting over it. Damn shame as I was just starting to regain some conditioning and now I feel like I'm back at ground zero.

I am glad to see I am not the only.
sinus and ear infection that lasted about a month (+ ruptured ear drum @ the beginning) which ended up with a mastoiditis requiring antibiotics IV every 8 hours!
& it seems the sinus infection is back!!!!
