Colorado OWS

I'm determined to improve my open water swimming this year, but I only really know about swimming at Grant Ranch and the Aurora Reservoir. Any other options? Grant Ranch is incredibly nice, just pricey.

Also, when do the open water swim spots "open?" April?

Then swim more in the pool and find some open water races. Going out to train open water will only make you slower and less efficient.

This is from last year, but...

I haven't swam out there in ages but always see the people still out there while I'm riding. Was definitely my favorite place for OWS around here.

Cherry Creek Res is gross but easy.
Chatfield has OWS practices at their gravel pond, but only during certain times and for clubs. They also have designated swim areas on their bigger lake
Boulder has a Stroke and Stride series on Thursday's at their res.
