Halfway, 100 laps in still riding a tiiiight line, if he keeps this up he's going to beat 50k pretty handily.

What's the update....was he not the American Hour Record Holder around the time Boardman and Obree were trading the world hour record title?

Looks like he went approximately 50.235 km/hr if the average speed was correct on the video. So, definitely a beat.

He has been working really hard. Especially after his other attempts a few years ago.

He is also one of the most aero riders you’ll ever see- he does not show much to the wind

+1. His CdA is under 0.2 m^2 even with drop bars.

That said, his low drag has as much to do with his stature/build as it does his position.

Re-reading some texts from Hunter, who has been coaching him:

"He has the velodrome September 22nd 23rd and 24th so any of those 3 days"

I just realized that at 45-49 Colby went only 906 meters short of Francisco Mosers 51.151 at Mexico City 1984. If I recall correctly Moser returned post retirement at 40+ and used the Superman position to go just over 50 kph....not sure if he beat Colby's distance though. Anyone remember that attempt?

Edit: Article on Moser's 40+ attempt and addresses the fusion of technology, sport, science, physiology and of course doping as this was in 1994 and he worked with Conconi: https://rouleur.cc/...l/moser-hour-record/
