Changing rear cassette - what d I need to know?
I'm looking to switch out the rear cassette from the stock 11-23t to a 11-28t. Both are SRAM on an SRAM Rival setup.

I'd like to keep the 11-23t on the trainer wheel (Zipp 404s for the new cassette).

I know Ill probably need a longer chain. Will the longer chain work with the smaller 23t gear?

Someone mentioned that I may need a longer rear mech.

Anyone with experience in this?

Thanks,

  1. You just need a chain whip, cassette tool, and a wrench to turn the cassette tool to change a cassette. It takes 5 minutes. Super easy
  2. Yes, you will probably need a longer chain to go from a 23 to a 28. However, do it anyway and go big-to-big to see if your RD has enough extension. If not, you will have to buy a new chain for those two extra links.
  3. You an use the same RD
