Canyon SpeedMax Disc (Reading between the lines)
Apologies if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it.

WIth the 4 day old press release that Movistar is moving over to SRAM and the 'entire team switching to disc brakes only'... I am only reading between the lines here but it is pretty apparent that the SpeedMax is getting disc brakes soon.

Hmm very interesting and rather unexpected I'd say. This thread discussed the possibility of getting a disc version of the Speedmax a few months ago.

I'd say almost definitely, based on the following statement in this article.

Movistar wrote:
The Movistar Team will be equipped with Zipp Firecrest and NSW wheels with tubular and tubeless offerings. This is the first season the entire team will use disc brakes. Expect the Zipp 303 and 454 NSW to be the top choices for road races and 858 NSW and Super-9 Disc for time trials.

Cheers, Rich.

It's definitely coming then! When would you expect it to be announced? I believe the first TT stage they have on their schedule is at Tour Colombia in February.

Don't know when they will come, but they've been seen here around Europe since last spring. Saw some of the world tour TT specialists training on the bike some time last year.

Depends how you read the statement, they'll use the (Super-9) (Disc wheel) or (Super-9 Disc) (wheel). Is it "Disc" for "disc-brake model" or "Disc" for "Solid non-spoked disc, not NSW"? Remember many European languages have a lot more capitalization - I don't know enough Spanish, but as a German I might certainly capitalize the 'D' in 'disc wheel' out of habit.

FWIW, Zipp’s Instagram account published a video of Valverde doing some track testing on the team TT bike. No disc brakes there...

This is how Zipp currently name their various disc wheels. Both "Disc" (disc wheel) and "Disc" (disc brake) are capitalized, so your guess is as good as mine on what is meant by "Super 9 Disc". To add further confusion to the mix, I called Zipp last week asking if/when they might be coming out with a tubeless-compatible version of the Super-9, and was told that informally it should be out late spring so there may be some further shake-ups in the Disc and Disc-Disc lineup at Zipp.
