Canyon Bikes - New Bikes v. Old Models
Does anyone have a sense of whether Canyon's new bike releases (e.g., Speedmax Disc discussed at length on this forum) will affect the currently offered models?

In other words, if I'm looking at one of the $3-4k CF 8.0s, does it make sense to buy now, or wait a few weeks for the new models to be released?

From what I have seen, Canyon is very good at managing inventory. By the time some of the new models came out this year (Lux Exceed Aeroad) the old models were gone. or VERY limited.

Same here, into the market for a tri bike and waiting for the specs of the new Speedmax since ages.

I am torn between going for something mid-budget like the Cervelo Pseries 105 (or a potential Canyon equivalent with disc brakes) or going for an Ăśberbike like the P5 or the (upcoming) Speedmax SLX. I already have a disc brake road bike (Endurace) therefore I am looking for disc brakes, so I am not very tempted by Canyon's current sales.

If I was on a 3-4k budget and not wanting disc brakes bike, I would probably pull the trigger for the current sales at Canyon, great bang for the bucks. Canyon are rarely doing sales.

There are already a few Speedmax models (for UK at least), that show as out of stock, or "notify me". I take that as not to be replaced. If they were making more there would be a future date. Buy now or miss out and wait for the disc version I think.

it's a gamble, but one thought might be the canyon outlet. they often have a lot of stock on there, but you never know what you're going to get. still, if you had your heart set on last year's model and waiting too long to buy it, you might find it in the outlet.

As other users have noted Canyon has historically been extremely careful about not actually releasing new bikes until they are almost sold out of the previous models. Because all there bikes are build in a single facility Canyon can control total stock much better than the likes of Specialized, Trek, etc who have to ship bikes to LBS across the world and then manage global bike stocks. If anything Canyon has previously waited to long to release new stock creating massive backlog/pre-order times between when they have sold everything they have and when they get the new bikes.

All that said over the past few years Canyon has run a '25 days of Christmas promotion' which has included special offers on old stock bikes. It would not surprise me if they try and clear out rim brake bikes this year to open more and more space for new disc based inventory. It is also extremely likely we will see a Shimano 12 speed road groupset in 2021. In anticipation of this launch I expect companies like Canyon to start clearing house on high end Shimano 11 spd wheels and any 11 speed Dura Ace parts they have. So its possible we will see some 'Special Edition' offerings from Canyon closer to Christmas which let them move the unwanted stock without putting in deep discounts on the current offerings.

Good to know, looks like I'll just keep checking the website to monitor stock and hope for some deep discounts pre-Christmas.
