And of all the accomplishments he has had in sport over his life this is about the absolute least substantial.

Is that a front pack swim time but already expected of Ali?

I found the result interesting and relevant, specifically him beating Sanders and Wurf by 6 minutes. Probably not unexpected? I would have thought Wurf would have gone a bit quicker. And if those swim splits are replicated on Sunday, I think Wurf will struggle to catch the leaders. If he does it would be within spitting distance of T2. I don't expect him to crack the top 5 and Lionel won't crack the top 10.

Well obviously there's no reason to run the race as Alistair most certainly has it wrapped up already;)

Would that swim time put Ali in the front pack and would expected front pack include any strong cyclists? (Jan, Starky, etc) Trying to figure out if Ali and others can keep away from Wurf, Kienle, Sanders, etc.

It's kinda funny I actually think both LS and AB can have the biggest impacts on the races and they themselves not factor into the final results. Wurf and LS need to go ahead and just latch out and buddy their way through the swim + bike the same way AB + Frodo will do with the front group. To me with LS's injury this year, his placement is irrelevant and no I just dont think he's going to have it THIS year considering his injury. And AB I think is going to have a "learning curve" on the big island. But doesnt mean he cant put the hurt on the chase group in the process.

Going to be fun as hell to watch it play out.

Yeah that would have him out the swim first. Obviously Wurf and Sanders are strong on the bike, but I think if the likes of Frodo and Brownlee have a 6 min lead, it would be too much. Even for Wurf.

Does anyone seriously think that these guys are showing their cards for next Saturday in an absolutely meaningless training swim? SMH πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

You think Wurf was sandbagging? Or just knackered from IM Italy and can't swim as fast non-wetsuit?

Surely this is such low quality data as to be virtually useless for comparison purposes and not worth discussing?
I don't get it.

Of course it is, but so is the underwear run, but it is a Kona tradition.

AB certainly adds some intrigue.

On the IMTalk podcast, John Newsome said he is almost 100% certain AB will be leading after 5k of the run, but not at the end.

That seems a fairly good assumption, imho.

This race is shaping up to be a cracker.
