My rear brake caliper grouping has a nasty habit of sliding out of a neutral position to an angled one where it chafes against my rear wheel rim causing me to go extra slow. Anyone ever have this issue before? How the heck does it keep happening and how did you fix it?

It can also be that the cable housing is too long or too short, depending on which side rubs.

Or the center bolt isn’t tight enough or it doesn’t have the gnarled friction washers.

Every time I applied the rear brake, when I let go of the lever the non-drive-side would stay on the wheel. Took it into my LBS, who was able to diagnose and repair it in no time.

This. Related is that the cable can be very stiff.
