Bike setup (positioning) for off-road Dirty Duathlon
Quote | Reply
I'm doing the Dirty Duathlon (3m/15m/3m) next weekend and I was thinking about whether I should make any adjustments to my saddle position on my mountain bike.

Among other things, I understand that riding steeper helps you run off of the bike. On my tri-bike I ride at around 78 degrees, but on my mountain bike I'm set up much shallower (Trek Fuel 98 with a 73.5 degree seattube).

Normally I don't run off of the mountain bike, but this being a duathlon I will. Should I slide my saddle as far forward as I can to get a little steeper to help my run?

The more technical the trail the more you should leave it alone.Move it forward only if you are too far back now.Safety is more critical on a trail than when cruising mindlessly down the road on your Tri bike.
