Bike Build Questions

I am building up two bike (yeah!!) Just want to ask the ST Braintrust if they have any tips tricks etc for bike builds. Things to watch out for, things I shouldn't be drinking beer while installing ;-) etc..
The frames are new but the parts going on are used. The exception there is the headsets and BBs. Here are some of the questions I initiallly had:
Grease what parts? Is there a prefered grease to use with carbon bikes?
Carbon Paste recommendations? Any brands stand out?
Headsets do I need any special tools for the new intergrated headsets? the crowns have the splt on them so the slide down the fork well.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ewan,

I think you already know most of this stuff but here's a few ideas:

Be fussy about cable length- make sure your cable housings are long enough, but not too long. Check your steering with the housings on there so you can get the steering you want with the cables installed.

Square the ends of your cable housing and make sure the openings are free of debris from cutting the housing. You can poke a small awl or a sharpened spoke into the housing to open it up so the inner cable moves smoothly.

Use a torque wrench to get your torque values when tightening things.

Work clean and slow.

That sounds like a cool project. Best of lusk. Photos when you're done if possible Sir!

Thanks TD good points.
I have cable and re-cable my bikes several times, but those are good points.
The only thing that will be new to me on these frames will be the headset installs and the BB30 (although I won't install that as I don't have the tool) THe road bike has external BB and I have the tool for that.
There will be pics maybe too many :-)

x2

Had issues with all sorts of carbon parts slipping on me, no more after a smear of Tacx. Just don't confuse it for where you should be using grease:)

What is the prevailing wisdom on BB30 installs, loctite or not?

Thanks
