I too, was not involved in the review, but I'll post my 2 cents regardless.

I have purchased 4 pairs of Kayennes over the past year and a half.

One pair failed out of the box. The clasp that holds the strap in place failed, and the goggles would simply fall off my face. I returned those, and have been very happy with the other three. I keep a microfiber cloth in my swim bag that I use to keep them clean. A clean goggle fogs less for me.

A pair lasts about 8-10 months for me, swimming about 2x per week. However, I suspect that if I were to not tighten them as tight, they might have lasted longer? But for the comfort, I don't mind replacing them a little more often.

Fantastic goggles. Highly recommended.

After seeing Lance sporting a pair of these I purchased a pair like the good lemming I am. I must say these are the best goggles I have ever owned. Way more comfortable than my old. They don't feel like they are cutting off the circulation to my face and/or brain. No leaking issues at all.

I have the ladies smoke ones, I have a really small face (I am female) It fit great and never have any leakage issues. Works great in pool and open water swimming.

Not part of the study. Tried Kayenne and Kaiman, but couldn't get comfortable with them. And they leaked.
The new K180s I love though!

not part of the trial, but I bought a pair a few weeks ago and they are the most comfortable and clear goggles I've ever used! My current pair is regular/clear(no tinting) and I plan on buying another tinted pair for open water swims and race day

Not part of the study, but I bought a pair with clear lenses as it seemed a great option for racing and training in the evenings/dark pools.

Although very comfortable, it is extremely blurry, to the point I cannot see the splits on my watch under the water. Could be the shape of my face but I have adjusted it in several ways and it just doesn't work for me.

Vinnie, I'd like to say that these are the end all be all goggles for everybody. Unfortunately as the review shows, they work for some and not for others. If you are having trouble with blurriness from the Kayennes, I'd recommend trying our K180's. It's a smaller socket goggle that is amazingly clear.

This is not to say that the Kayenne is a bad goggle, not at all. I wear them nearly every day myself. The simple fact is that some goggles work for some, and others work for others. We do offer several "smaller" options with the Kayenne, Kaiman, and K180. These are all great goggles.

To address the issue with the goggle "lifting" when pushing off the wall, I'd ask how you have the strap oriented? A lot of people wear the strap low and pretty much straight back on the head. We recommend wearing the split strap high on the head to help you get the best low pressure seal.

If this isn't the issue, try going one or two clicks tighter on each side. The goggle is fully capable of staying on under the pressure of a push off or dive. It just takes the right tension. But again, if you find this isn't working for you, try the K180.

We are at nearly every IM 70.3 event, and every IM event in the US. Stop by our tent and say hi. I'll be there and happily help you find a goggle that fits you just right.

SWIMFAST!

The fit issues are just inherently people having different shaped eye sockets, and how no one goggle will ever be right for everyone. It's why a specialty swim shop/sports shop with a good competitive swim section will have the Big Box O'Goggles and let you test how the eye cups fit on 20 different styles in order to help you narrow down to a list of better options for each person's face.

I love them - I've got two pairs. One with the blue trim and smoky lens, and a month or two back I got another pair with a clear lens for the pool as it's winter here now. Work a treat for me in the pool and in open water.

Hi Jake,

I also have issues with vision distortion in the Kayennes and also the TYR nest pros... when I mention this, no one seems to know what I'm talking about and at Kona last year I talked to a few great guys in your booth and they DID know and said I wasn't crazy (yes, I was excited!)... could you tell me what might be causing that so I can avoid it when purchasing goggles? I can't afford to keep buying goggles that cause this issue when i put my face in the water :P Is it the curvature of the lens??

Thanks so much for your help. It's been a frustrating challenge to find goggles that fit :(

Happy swimming!

Are you experiencing this in open water or in a pool?

Regarding distortion in a curved lens goggle, there is a very small percentage of people that have an issue with this. I can't speak for the tyr goggles, but with ours, this unfortunate issue affects a very very minute portion of the population. You may want to try a flatter lens goggle.

We have had success in fitting people in the new K180's.

I have used Kayenne goggles for a few years and the vision thing was always a problem when I looked at my watch underwater as I often would look at say the 200 split of a 400. Underwater the split could not be read because it was blurry. I mentioned it a few times to a few reps over the years and then one pair it fixed itself and has not been an issue since. I don't know if others had the same issue but I think there was a change to the lens at some point. You can correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Thank you :) yes, I have been told I'm Special :P lucky me! I have not tried them in open water, but will give it a try. I'll also check out the k180s. Mainly just needed to know what to avoid (which I gather is a curved lens)

Thanks for your help!

hi,

I am about to order the Kayenne online, but the "leaking" complaints are holding me back.

What is the trick to prevent the leaks?

I have an "asian" type of face (parents are from Indonesia) , which in my case stands for no-nose bridge :)
Any "asian" facetypes using this particular goggle?

regards,

Keep your eyes peeled for new colors coming. We're always searching for the next new color.

As far as leaking with these goggles, there are only three reasons that these goggles leak.
-they don't fit properly
-The straps are too tight, or not high enough of angle on the strap
-The goggles have seen their days. Chlorine eats plastic and rubber, so be sure to rinse your goggles after every use, no matter in the pool or open water. This will extend the life of any goggle.

Asian fit, my recommendation is to try them on before buying them. The Kayenne can be found at nearly every major sporting goods store in limited colors. If nothing else, this gives you the opportunity to try them on, as well as others.

As with wetsuits, the fit of goggles is an individual thing. We offer a variety of goggles that will suit just about everybody!
