Anybody used the new Giant Trinity front hydration yet?
That bike is a smokin' deal. But does the front hydration leak water out on bumps? Or rattle around?

No but looking at it, they should be thanking TorHans for doing all the work. If it's not their product, it's a total ripoff. The shape of the bottle, the straw mast, ect.

Yeah, they look the same, but I don't think Torhans was around when airfoils were developed.

Yea. I'm just a fan of original ideas, not copycats and blatant rip offs. Thats why I buy Apple products not Samsung. Using airfoils is one thing, using the same shape, design, and innovation (straw mast) bothers me.

So, does the torhans have that flappy water port in the front, too? How bad does it leak?

Comparing electronics to airfoils? I've now seen it all on Slowtwitch. Have you ever noticed how bikes and helmets are starting to look the same? It's because physics cannot be changed. Air behaves a certain way and the most optimal designs will be used by other people. You can argue that most airplanes look the same too. There's a reason for that

So what is your opinion of integrated stem/bars that really ushered in the common used of the term Super Bike, because ... Giant Trinity.

Apple rips off as much as anyone. They're just better at making stuff that's consumer-friendly and really good in general. Wasn't the first with a touch-screen smartphone. Not the first with electronic music players. Not the first GUI-based computer.

I'll check tonight and report back. Going to visit a shop that has them in stock. The bike looks pretty slick in person. I haven't seen the wind tunnel numbers yet, but it looks *very* competitive to a Felt IAx or Cervelo P3, particularly cost-competitive.

Apples genius has always been about crating a superior consumer experience, not the tech associated with it.

The genius behind the iPod was not the player, but iTunes. The genius behind the iPhone was not the touchscreen, but Apps. THOSE were the revolutionary elements.....

You mean these numbers?

I meant other than those numbers. I have yet to see manufacturer-generated numbers that didn't show their own bike as the best.

Absurd nonsense.
It's quite worrying the amount of comments I see on ST accusing every new bike or other product of copying another. In case you haven't noticed, the bike industry is not exactly new or radically evolving. Bike's are relatively simple, both governing bodies and customers are very conservative. It's like people think using carbon fibre, using non-standard parts, making concessions to aerodynamic efficiency and facilitating the storage of items on the bike that people already attach to the bike were all groundbreaking feats of genius. These are not huge engineering problems! Many of them are downright obvious and the detailed design, manufacturing and marketing are the only place real effort is required. I like new ideas too, but generally only if it's a better idea. It's a pity there isn't more evidence of these but in their absence I think it's reasonable not to condemn everyone for building sensible bikes and bike accessories without huge style departures in a market that rewards trend following.

Very clever marketing by Giant

I didn't think so. Everyone who thinks they're fast is going to prefer the P5-6 or Speed Concept which are faster out to 5 degrees.

Edit: But I guess it was clever going out to 30, as if that mattered that much. Maybe it means the Trinity is less likely to blow over in a cross wind when you have it propped up on a curb.

Was too late - it closed. I'm definitely going today, though.

Sweet. Would be cool if you could post some pics of the refill port opening innards and area. Doesn't seem to be any online anywhere. Also, can't tell if those are vertical or horizontal rear dropouts. Shit. Just ask them if you can take it for a spin, ride it over to my house, and let's disassemble it over a few beers while watching UFC fights. We'll get it back to the shop eventually.

Ask and you shall receive. Various states of undress.

The dropouts are horizontal. But a little funky. Not bad, just different. Didn't actually try to remove a wheel. Didn't ride because wrong size.

The refilling port is very, very similar to Torhans. Similar double baffle deal. Did Torhans do this for Giant? (I honestly don't know).

My one minor complaint is that the top-most cover just doesn't have a satisfying "snap" feel to it when you put it back on. And it doesn't "feel" very securely attached. On Torhans a few times I've had issues where the nozzle of a bottle pulls up the whole cover, and it's just not fun fixing that at 20+ MPH.
