Another TDF bike questions - Bars & levers

Noticed today while watching that the brake levers on most bikes seem to be mounted really high. Why? Is this just something sprinters do to get more power? Same setup for climbing?

Comfort for loooong days in the saddle. By raising the levers instead of the bars, they preserve the low position when in the drops yet still sit a precious small amount more upright when on the hoods.

I'm a bit confused by the picture you posted. You can't even see the brake levers in that picture. Are we talking about the same thing?

Thanks for the reply.

Talking about the same thing. If you click on the photo on the velonews.com site it shows the complete bike. You have to look at the actually .jpg file.
