Another Attempt on Wiggins Hour - Dion Beukeboom (today)

This one flew pretty low under the radar. Another attempt at Aguas, this time from a "pursuiter."

He was interviewed by thetrackstand podcast, where he says that he tested a couple of sizes of that bike frame, and the smaller one was considerably faster. Certainly looks like he got enough seatpost and risers.

predictions?

He's pretty good in the pursuit, getting medals at several Worlds. But hasn't shown in TTs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dion_Beukeboom

Lot's of track experience, which won't hurt. It doesn't seem likely he could set a record, but his palmares is more impressive than Sosenka's when he beat the Merckx record in 2005 (and at sea level). So who knows?

I love the pedestaled armrests, especially with the 'foil behind the foil' aero trick.

I know it's probably fine, but man... how long are those bolts holding everything together...

It only has to stay together for an hour, should be fine ;)

looks like the pedestals, cups and extensions are all one piece.

true... not sure if that makes me feel better about it lol. I guess it's strong enough though. I just remember having 60mm risers under a 3t bar and feeling like a lot of good faith was going into those long black oxide bolts.

They are saying the expect 420W vs 445W at sea level. 94.4% would be very good acclimation.

Came up well short but still a Dutch national record: fantastic effort and looked completely drained at the end.

Yeah, hell if you ride around a track for an hour at pretty much any pace you got my respect... If you finish out one after you know you're going to miss the mark you should get a certified badass medal

I heard comment that clouds had rolled in and the atmospheric pressure maybe hurt the attempt some yesterday. A person from the track was live posting in the youtube feed.

Still top 5 all time though, something to be proud of.

I've never given it the beans for an hour. I've done two true 20 minute gasping tests and have another coming up in a month. I simply cannot fathom extending that kind of pain for another 40 minutes.
