nice.

reminds me of the shop I used to ride for, they were (and are) a Trek / Cannondale dealer and one of the owners had a polished aluminum Cannondale R700 time trial bike with Spinergys. That thing was sweet.

My next custom paint project I think I'll incorporate chrome paint somehow,

I would still want a polished R700 or R800 too, so beautiful!

I think you can do a lot with chrome vinyl these days like the ceepo but the bare bones aluminium is sublime purism

To be fair: is chrome really "paint?" Or "finish?"

For my money, the trippiest paint job goes to the BMWs of the 80s

Might depend on the type of chrome...
Chrome paint...
Chrome vinyl...
Chrome look polished alumiunium...
Chrome electroplating...
Chrome bubba gump shrimp...

Whats that color you see on some bmxs... Its like a chrome thats been heated and turned shades of purple blue and gold? Id like a stripped Klein or cannondale in that finish

That iridescent shit that looks purple one second then gold from even the most imperceptibly different angle? I see that on the little tuners that run around here sometimes [Subarus, Hondas, etc]

I think that has to do with metal flake in the paint

Kyle Buckingham got a very similar paint scheme on his Dimond Mogul. It looks awesome new, but I'm told that it doesn't last, especially in that shade.

Black Sharpie on a white car, or white Sharpie on a black car?

Back in the late '80s, there was a custom frame builder (can't remember who) that offered a finish called "Road Kill", which was white with red splatters, and real cat hair under the clear coat...

Years ago, I had a polished Cannondale M1000. I think that might have been the last year they offered polished as a stock finish...
