Advice on 2000 P2K
Ann R. is interested in taking up the sport of triathlon. She's 40 years old, 5' 9", 140 pounds, strong runner (2:46 marathon to qualify for the 1996 Olympic Trials) and will be a very strong biker. She's found a used Cervelo P2K and has asked for my advice - but since many on this forum seem to have far more experience with the brand than do I, what is your advice? Here are the specs: 2000 Cervelo P2K, 54 cm, full ultegra, syntace C2 aerobars, ritchey cowhorns, wheelmaster wheels, 51-39 chainrings, 11-25 cassette.

Beautiful bike... in time upgrading the wheels, aerobars and chainrings might be in order.

I've got one and it's amazing.

I'm curious about the price. I was looking at a used 2000 p2k also and I am wondering how much they go for.

My 2-cents,

I own a 2000 P2k and love it. There are only 2 problems with the 2000: (1) the internal cable routing entrances and exits to the frame are plastic bits that tend to come out & (2) there are no set screws for the horizontal drop-outs. Both minor things in my book. The P2k would suit some one of any ability and as her riding gets better the only upgrades would be in components and wheels, the frame is a keeper. Hope this helps...

They can fix the set screw problem.

I have the 2000 P2K, with almost those exact specs and it's got over 4,000 miles on it. I still love it.

You can buy internal cablestops to retrofit, in addition to the set screws. I own a 2000 P2K, although it has set screws.
