lmao. I happen to be a fan, but thats just ridiculous. 35k for an ancient worn out bike.
He'd be lucky to get $500 for it, and even that would take a hardcore collector.

I'm confused by that last listing. Is he selling a bike or POGs? That Bikestream on the QR is awesome. Can you Imagine the mold inside it by now?

I was the RD for that race in 1989 - Aventura, Florida - Mike Plant was the race announcer. Lance put 3 min. on Mike Pigg on an 18 mile bike! Dave Scott finished 10th. Lance was 16 years old and that was his last triathlon before turning to Bike Racing. When he made his comeback a few years ago, I was also the RD for the race he won in Haines City, FL - IM 70.3 Florida - went sub 2 hours on the bike - closest male pro was 11 min. back. I have the first place award that he did not pick up at the awards ceremony! Might put in on E-Bay for $10,000. :) Z

No thanks man... I'd rather pay $30k to ride with him and the other dopers in Mallorca.

haha I'd love to ride with Lance. He's still the best GC rider of all time. I definitely wouldn't pay money to do it though.
Funny how the ASO and Prudhomme "welcomed" the Riis apology this week but others (Lance, Bruyneel) are banned for life. I LOVE cycling, but its weirdness with regard to what is acceptable and what isn't baffles me. It is inconsistent and selective.
I digress. I keep looking at that stem and contemplating crashes gouging someone in the face / throat. That seems pretty bad!

Actually that's considered a proper qr position for tt/tri bikes -- supposed aero advantage (unsure if it has been proven in the wt), but certainly it is not wrong to do it that way.
This thread cracks me up. You're so right about the shipping! HA!

HANHAHA. I happen to still like Lance and follow his podcast every now and then (good fresh cycling analysts who also know how to have fun), but 35k for that POS bike. I’m literally cracking up as I write. Feel really bad for the groupie that will end up buying it (or those who will hand him and Hincapie serious cash for riding with them)

I cannot speak for the 35k, but he would definitely get 4figures for the bike.
Just for grins and giggles google an 1970s Schwinn stingray or a 1980 kuwahara KZ1.
Collectors with too much money will buy a lot of items.
If I had more space I would drop a $k or 2 on the Kuwara and stick it on a wall.

Brian Baylis was one of the lesser known SoCal master frame builders, was a pretty wicked drummer, and a great frame painter. He died a few years back and some of his work has commanded premium prices but not like $35k. His bikes were over the top lug work and paint jobs. At one time he rode pretty fast on the track.

$35K is one thing, but the production value and pictures associated with a $35K price seems atrocious. It looks like a $250 listing.
Lance's Trek Butterfly Madone went for $500,000 ... pretty good.
https://financesonline.com/...g-with-style/
"Damien Hirst placed the real butterfly wings on the bike’s concrete frame and rim. This bicycle was used by Lance Armstrong in the 2009 Tour de France race. It fetched an amazing $500,000 at a Sotheby’s cancer benefit charity auction, making it top of the pops in our list of most expensive bikes."
$160K for this one:
This bike fetched a handsome $160,000 at an auction. This shows that any bicycle associated with Lance Armstrong gets a fortune. The bike features Kaws’ signature “chomper” teeth design on its frame and wheel rims. It also boasts splendid aerodynamics, stunning accessories, and loads high. Now, you know why it is worth the astronomical price tag.

I wish someone would go into production again with the old 'Scott Extreme' bars. They look great and must be pretty aero.
